About us

Message from the Chair

The Eastwood Community Centre Inc was established in 1978 and has evolved and adapted to the changing needs of the local community over the years. The Centre, run for and by the community, welcomes and respects people from a diversity of backgrounds, cultures, ages and gender. It aims to foster and encourage personal growth and lifelong learning within a caring, friendly, non-discriminatory environment.

One aspect of the Centre is that your experience is a learning journey of enjoyment. Our participants provide us with feedback and remind us that the overall experience is important. Here are a few examples of what our participants say:

“I really like the environment. I will be back”

“My tutor was delightful, very encouraging and inspiring. Everything about Eastwood was welcoming and a real pleasure to be there”

The Centre does really promote life-long and life-wide learning for all. Behind the scenes the Eastwood Management Committee and staff work hard to deliver you an experience from your first contact to your involvement in a course.

Today Eastwood Community Centre strives to:

  • serve the needs of the community as determined by the community;
  • encourage community growth;
  • provide community services;
  • develop programs and facilities for the local community;
  • provide life-skills and adult community education programs; and
  • provide a safe environment for the community to develop and prosper.

The Centre is recognized throughout the local community in particular through funding by the City of Burnside and Unley, together with state government departments and local businesses. The support that has been experienced over the years reflects the importance of the Centre and we thank you all for your involvement and encouragement.

We look forward to seeing you at Eastwood Community Centre in the future.
